Cartoons...

Some of my favourites cartoons and soft toys...
There are:-

1. Winnie The Pooh
2. Snoopy
3. Garfield
Characters from Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh
He is a small golden bear, stands at nearly 22 inches tall and wears an old red color t-shirt. This bear is undoubtedly the world’s most loved and revered bear. He has little brains, does a lot of silly things, and his love for honey (hunny) is endless, yes the bear is none other than everyone’s favourite bear - Winnie the Pooh. The 1st chapter of the Winnie-the-Pooh book was published on December 24, 1925 while the entire book written by A. A. Milne was released on October 14, 1926. All over the world his birthday is celebrated with much fanfare on 14th October. Winnie the Pooh is also called Pooh Bear or just Pooh. He is best friends with everyone in the 100 Acre Wood. The first thing he says when he gets up in the morning is “what’s for breakfast”. Pooh invented the game ‘Poohsticks’. Things he likes to do is to exercise in the morning, go on an adventure with Christopher Robin or Piglet, visiting friends who he thinks have ‘Hunny’ and looking for “Hunny to Fill the Rumblee in his Tumblee”.

Eeyore
Eeyore is a donkey and for some he is their favourite Pooh character amongst all the others. He is a blue-gray donkey, about 3-years in age and stands 18 inches tall & 27 inches in length. He is originally like the other Pooh character; stuffed with sawdust. His appearance is highlighted by a small light pink bow on his tail. He is an intelligent animal but tends to keep to himself. Eeyore is a extremely gloomy donkey and has a very bad habit of losing his tail! Mostly, he tends to depend on his friends to find his lost tail for him and thereafter Christopher Robin fixes his tail using a drawing pin. What he simply adores is that his friends remember him on his birthday and celebrates it with him. He often says “Thanks for noticin’ me” and “Oh, well”.

Tigger
He is a very Bouncy Animal and resembles a tiger. He is always in an electrifying & exuberant mood and loves to bounce, bounce and bounce. He is 23 inches tall and his most standout feature is his springy tail. His character is easily recognizable by the black & orange stripes, a springy tail, and a long chin, beady eyes which all mix well into his bouncy and fun loving personality. He is a bouncy, pouncy, flouncy and a trouncy creature that is always looking to make the most out of what life has to offer. The most wonderful thing about Tiggers is that "I'm the only one!" Tigger likes to bounce a lot, "cause that is what Tiggers do best." His favourite food is the extract of malt but is known to be an extremely fussy eater. He takes a lot of pleasure in being able to “unbounce” some of the other animals in the 100 Acre Wood.

Piglet
Piglet is another of the original stuffed toy animals of Christopher Robin Milne in the Winnie-the-Pooh books. Piglet is a very brave animal as supposed to his diminutive size and frame of a timid pink pig. Piglet stands barely at 10 inches tall and is always seen wearing a long pink striped shirt. His original address in the 100 Acre Wood was the Beech Tree, south of Pooh's house, 100 Acre Wood Southwest. But from the time Owl moved into his house, Piglet has started living with his best friend Winnie the Pooh. What he loves doing best is going on adventures with Pooh, he is quite fond of bright colors and especially balloons, and he even likes blowing dandelions. Haycorns are his favourite food. Every Tuesday Piglet spends his day at Christopher Robin’s house. The first thing that Piglet utters when he gets up in the morning is “I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?”.

Rabbit
Rabbit is one of the 2 real animals that are recognized by their actual animal names in A.A Milne’s children’s story books. Since he is a real animal it is considered that he has brains and the same goes for Owl. He actually makes this clear in a conversation with Owl where he say “You and I have brains. The others have fluff”. He is pushy and takes his own decisions, is able to spell better compared to all the other animals. He is quite certain about the important things in his life. What he likes doing most is organizing a plan and to lead group events, even if nothing gets done. He is unhappy if anyone disturbs or interrupts him while he is engaged in any kind of activity, he doesn’t like being bounced either. He relishes gardening and his favourite food is the carrot and other vegetables, he makes it a point to avoid Pooh during lunch time.

Kanga and Roo
Kanga & Roo are 2 frictional characters that belong to Winnie the Pooh. Kanga is the sole female character in Winnie-the-Pooh and she is 30 inches tall. She is the mother of a young joey (baby kangaroo) named Roo, who is nearly 10 inches tall. Kanga carries her family in her pocket and is the fastest amongst all animals in the forest. She takes utmost care of Roo and shall often warn Roo of possible dangers involved in the activities that Roo undertakes. She often says "Now now Roo, you mustn't do that dear," to which Roo mostly replies "But moma!" Kanga & Roo live in the Northern section of the 100 Acre Wood. Every Tuesday Kanga goes to Pooh’s house and tries to teach him how to jump. Roo is the youngest member of the 100 Acre Wood, he love milk and most other eateries expect for the extract of malt. He really likes the game ‘Poohsticks’ and likes playing with Tigger too.
Character of Snoopy
Snoopy is a fictional character in the long-running comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz. He is Charlie Brown's pet beagle. Snoopy began his life in the strip as a fairly ordinary dog, but eventually evolved into perhaps the strip's most dynamic character — and among the most recognizable comic characters in the world. The original drawings of Snoopy were "slightly patterned" after Spike, one of Schulz's childhood dogs.
Character of Garfield
Garfield is a comic strip created by Jim Davis. Published since June 19, 1978, it chronicles the life of the title character, the cat Garfield (named after Davis' grandfather); his owner, Jon Arbuckle; and Arbuckle's dog, Odie. As of 2007, it was syndicated in roughly 2,580 newspapers and journals, and held the Guinness World Record for being the world's most widely syndicated comic strip.
He is a lazy, fat, selfish, orange, anthropomorphic tabby cat who enjoys eating (especially lasagna), sleeping, and tormenting his owner Jon and Odie the dog. He considers himself to be more intelligent than humans and other animals. He hates Mondays, and is often struck by bad luck in Monday comic strips.

Su jeong gwa (Persimmon Tea)

Dried persimmons – a preserved fruit snack that’s well loved across Asia. In Korean, it is known as gotgam (곶감). In Malaysia, the Hokkien community has given gotgam the rather endearing name of gu sai pneah which literally translates into… cow pie biscuit.

Have you ever had a gotgam? Well, it’s chewy flesh could either be pleasantly rich and sweet or as astringent as an unripe banana! Blegh! But perhaps we could escape that unsavory surprise of biting into an unripe gotgam by making su jeong gwa (수정과)!

Some recipes online call for 20 gotgams. Like… whoa! I’m probably the only one who is going to drink this batch, so I’ve reduced and tampered with some recipes to make enough to fill 4 glasses, or several tea cups. Korean cooks out there – do share your tips with us!

Step 1: Ingredients!
5 dried persimmons rinsed and halved.
Some pine nuts. These are expensive little buggers!
Sliced Ginger, about 10 slices. More or less depending on what you like.
Rock sugar (8oz or 1/2lbs)
A stick of cinnamon. About 6 cups of water

Step 2: Boil! Here I’m using a clay pot I use to boil herbal teas with, but I think a heavy soup pot will do. Add water into the pot with the ginger slices, cinnamon and rock sugar. Some recipes online say that you should add the sugar later, but I was so caught up in the photo taking that I forgot that part, tee hee! I guess it should be okay.

Bring to a boil then lower the heat and allow it to simmer covered for 1 ½ hours. Wow, forget about air fresheners, your home will smell great when this baby gets brewin’!

Step 3: Cool down…Turn off the heat and let the liquid return to room temperature before adding the persimmons… ! I probably would have had to wait another hour for it to cool in that thick walled clay pot. So I waited 20 minutes.

Step 4: Forget about it.Yup, leave it and forget about it for 5 hours and allow the persimmons to steep. I suggest you surf K-popped! to pass the time. :p
Step 5: Cool it further.Take the persimmons out, strain the tea and store your brew in the refrigerator.

Step 6: Drink!Serve the su jeong gwa cold garnished with 3 precious pine nuts. Cheers!

And what does it taste like? Like a festival! The spice, the fruitiness - a holiday drink with an Asian flair! I think it would make an excellent drink for a Christmas or New Year’s party. But do make a small batch for yourself to test first and see if you like it. This perfumed beverage may not suit everyone’s palate.

Happy cooking and Happy Holidays!

Be True To Yourself

To be true to yourself means to act in accordance with who you are and what you believe.

If you know and love yourself you will find it effortless to be true to yourself.
Just as you cannot love anyone else until you love yourself, you cannot be true to anyone else until you are true to yourself.

Be who you are.

Do not take action or pretend to be someone else for the sake of gaining acceptance.

Many young people believe that when they do things to please their peers, such as drink when they shouldn't, or behave and party in inappropriate ways, they will be popular and liked.

They go against the advice of their parents or their own common sense only to find themselves in trouble and not accomplishing what they set out to do.

When you do things that are not genuine or a reflection of the real you, you will not be happy with yourself and will end up confused. You'll be confused because you won't know whom to please, or how.

Self-respect comes from being true to who you really are and from acting in accordance with your fundamental nature.

When you respect yourself, others will respect you. They will sense that you are strong and capable of standing up for yourself and your beliefs.

When you are true to yourself, you allow your individuality and uniqueness to shine through.

You respect the opinions of others but do not conform to stereotypes or their expectations of you.

To be true to yourself takes courage. It requires you to be introspective, sincere, open-minded and fair.

Being true to yourself does not mean that you are inconsiderate or disrespectful of others.

It means that you will not let others define you or make decisions for you that you should make for yourself.
